I was born in 1968 and did a variety of jobs before going to university in 2014 to study fine art. I gained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art at the Swansea College of Art in 2017 and graduated my Masters degree with distinction in 2020.
I now attend York St John University studying Fine Art for Phd.
I paint in watercolour, oil, acrylic and mixed media/collage. I also sculpt in steel and use recycled materials for my sculptures,
The figurative is very important to me whether I am painting or creating sculptures, even if the artwork is broken up and abstracted, I need to have somewhere for the eye to start. I am always trying to find the “edge” with my art, where the figurative becomes broken, the edge for me is that point where something is broken just enough that I dont lose the original starting figure, but leave the eye to fill in the broken missing pieces.
