Myles Laurence Mansfield, MA, ARCA

About Me

Myles was born in 1968 and worked in a variety of professions before entering higher education in 2014 to study Fine Art. He was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art from Swansea College of Art in 2017, followed by a Master’s degree with Distinction in 2020.

He is currently undertaking PhD research in Fine Art at York St John University. In 2024, he was accepted as an Associate Member of the Royal Cambrian Academy.

Myles works across watercolour, oil, acrylic, and mixed media/collage. Alongside his painting practice, he produces sculpture in steel and frequently incorporates recycled materials.

“The figurative is very important to me whether I am painting or creating sculpture. Even when the work is broken up and abstracted, I need somewhere for the eye to start. I am always trying to find the edge with my art — the point where something is broken just enough that the original figure is not lost, while allowing the viewer’s eye to fill in the missing pieces.”
