Myles Laurence Mansfield, MA, ARCA
Myles was born in 1968 and did a variety of jobs before going to university in 2014 to study fine art. He gained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art at the Swansea College of Art in 2017 and graduated his Masters degree with Distinction in 2020.
He now attends York St John University studying Fine Art for Phd and has in 2024 been accepted to be an associate member of the Royal Cambrian Academy.
Myles paints in watercolour, oil, acrylic and mixed media/collage. He also sculpts in steel and uses recycled materials for his sculptures,
“The figurative is very important to me whether I am painting or creating sculptures, even if the artwork is broken up and abstracted, I need to have somewhere for the eye to start. I am always trying to find the “edge” with my art, where the figurative becomes broken, the edge for me is that point where something is broken just enough that I dont lose the original starting figure, but leave the eye to fill in the broken missing pieces.”
