I build wildlife and animal sculptures from tools and steel objects. I put the tools, like spanners etc into my forge and bend them into random shapes. I then have a huge pile in a semicircle on the bench and select pieces randomly and hold them up in place to see if they fit. The lovely thing with working like this is that if something is wrong, it only takes a few moments to use my plasma cutter to cut things back off and adjust them. The thing I love about sculpting birds and animals is trying to get the organic curves and character in the form and giving them an attitude.
